Sunday

The First Day of the Week

Give the Lord Jesus Christ Praise due to His Name
Give, encourage, and be encouraged
Plug into the Body of Christ
Demonstrate Discipleship
A way to set the tone,
Grow in Wisdom
Find the pitch

It was on a Sunday,
On the First Day of the Week,
That Jesus was discovered to be Resurrected.
We see that the First believers met,
Broke Bread and were fed
through preaching and teaching,
They would bring their giving,

Today is Sunday,

I will celebrate in the house of the Lord,
Because he lives,
I worship him,
With the Saints
I will be fed by the Word of God,
I will bring an offering,
I will be thankful,

The First Day of the week in Genesis one

“In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness. And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.” Genesis 1:1-5
I suggest that what God did in Genesis one on the first day is a pattern of what God can do every Sunday in the House of God.

Matthew 28
1 In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre.
2 And, behold, there was a great earthquake: for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it.
3 His countenance was like lightning, and his raiment white as snow:
4 And for fear of him the keepers did shake, and became as dead men.
5 And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified.
6 He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.
7 And go quickly, and tell his disciples that he is risen from the dead; and, behold, he goeth before you into Galilee; there shall ye see him: lo, I have told you.

Acts 20:7
And upon the first day of the week, when the disciples came together to break bread, Paul preached unto them, ready to depart on the morrow; and continued his speech until midnight.

1 Corinthians 16:2
2 Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as God hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come.

For those who might be concerned or confused still about Sunday or the Sabbath-keeping,
The only time the subject is discussed in Scripture in the teaching of the Apostles in your Bible is this singular admonition.

“Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days: Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.”
Colossians 2:16

It is alluded to in this passage

“But now, after that ye have known God, or rather are known of God, how turn ye again to the weak and beggarly elements, whereunto ye desire again to be in bondage? Ye observe days, and months, and times, and years.” Galatians 4:10

If one does or does not observe the Sabbath, here is what the Bible teaches us.

“One man esteemeth one day above another: another esteemeth every day alike. Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind. He that regardeth the day, regardeth it unto the Lord; and he that regardeth not the day, to the Lord he doth not regard it. He that eateth, eateth to the Lord, for he giveth God thanks; and he that eateth not, to the Lord he eateth not, and giveth God thanks.” Romans 14:5-6
