“The Lord is my shepherd;”
This is not a statement of fact as much as a declaration of submission. When we choose to humbly look to God for direction, protection, provision, wisdom and purpose we are positioning ourselves as sheep.
Yes, sheep.
The unbelieving folk will shake their head at your simplistic worldview. These same people are sheep to different shepherds and prostrate themselves to another force.
Without shame this morning, I humbly pray and declare that I am but a lamb in the flock of MY great shepherd.
Without him, my best efforts will only get me lost and wounded.
With him, no matter my sense of direction or condition, I take comfort that my Shepherd will leave the ninety and nine to find me when I have lost myself to His direction.
“The Lord Jesus Christ is my Shepherd!”
In Him, By Him, Through Him,
