Human Agency – Talent, Power, Imagination, Obedience in Submission to God

Defined, Human Agency refers to the thoughts and actions taken by people that express their individual power.

Concerning our role in the Kingdom of God, Human agency is our individual obedient submission to God and, therefore, His Power to direct our thoughts and actions.

Satan sabotaged humanity by his subtle questions, accusing God of being a liar and cheating Adam and Eve. Engaging logic and reasoning within this construct disobeyed God.

Since that time, there is a parallel track from which we must choose.

1. Reason and logic that does not give priority to what God says and commands.

2. Reason and logic that does not show proper honor to the Word of God and His stated desire.

As believers, we must pray the Lord would give us proper discernment that we would love that which is holy and hate even the appearance of evil.

Satan was able to remove the fear of that which God forbade. She even transitioned from being afraid to touch it to be motivated to study, reason, pick, eat, savor, and share.

Once fear is removed, there is no limit to the progression of disobedience.

One of our greatest weapons in the warfare as a believer is our faith, respect, and honor to the written Word of God.

The scriptures of the Word animate the Spirit of the Word.

We pray the scriptures.

We quote the scriptures.

The scriptures guide us.

The Word of God becomes sharper than a two-edged sword in a believer’s mind, mouth, heart, and soul.

If we believe the Word and are motivated to engage the Word in our lives, we have access to the most incredible tool of victory in our lives.

Every other part of the believer’s arsenal is protective, but the Word of God is the weapon of offense. It is the manner that we can fight against every lie and deceitful knowledge.

“Action, Action, Action”

Too often, the divine and holy knowledge that we learn to know and love can becomes more of a thing of wonder and less a tool of our lending ourselves to the Work of the Kingdom.

The Will of God often shows up in Workboots with a toolbox.

We have seen different weapons used as decorations. I have seen knives, swords, pistols, and rifles hung on walls and adorning desks. Many times these are simply masculine symbols that serve as decoration.

No doubt, the Word of God beautifies a life. However, it does that through usage, obedience, and lives that are lived by its principles.

“Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:” Matthew 7:24

The Power is in the Doing.

Satan weaponized doubt that flesh would destroy God’s original intent. Today, Satan is most effective in destroying God’s original intent by motivating people to think, talk, and act in ways that directly contradict Scripture.

The most significant leverage used is to minimize the idea of consequence or negative effect by acting in disobedience to the Word of God.

Doubt motivates toward disobedience to the Word of God.

Faith motivates toward obedience to the Word of God.

For Adam and Eve, as long as they lived within the realm of honoring, obeying within the simple realm of “not eating of the fruit of the knowledge of Good and Evil”, they lived in the unrestrained fellowship of the promise, provision, and presence of God.

I suggest the pathway toward experiencing peace, purpose, and power with God is wrapped up in a proper reverence, simple faith, and absolute pursuit of honoring God’s Word.
