“At that time the Lord said unto me, Hew thee two tables of stone like unto the first, and come up unto me into the mount, and make thee an ark of wood.   And I will write on the tables the words that were in the first tables which thou brakest, and thou shalt put them in the ark.”   Deuteronomy 10:1-2

God requires us to do something.

Moses, in his anger, broke the first tablets of stone.    I sympathize with his emotion and response to the circumstance that prompted this outrage to the outrageous.

God, in His mercy, allowed Moses to replace what was lost.  Moses was required to do something.

“Hew two tablets, come to me in the mount and make a box of wood.   Then I will write the words in the tables on the first tables, and you will put them in the box.”

Moses did what the Lord asked of him, and God did what He told him he would do.

It’s that simple.

If and when we will do what God requires of us, He will do what he promised he would do.

This is a theme throughout scripture, God is a God that will write again on the tables of stone.

When God gives you this chance, do a better job of protecting them this time.  Make a box for what I am going to do, and put that in a box and keep it.

Some things belong in a box.

What God requires of us needs to be as if they are inscribed with the finger of God.   We don’t live in a day of tables of stone; however, the same manner of revelation exists.  God desires to put his finger on the tables of our hearts and engrave divine commands, and we must place those things in a box of sacred commitment.

God requires us to do something.

Moses did what the Lord asked of him, and God did what He told him he would do.

God will always do His part.   It’s up to us to do our part.
