“And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.” Genesis 1:26
You were created in the likeness of God. That is not to say you are a God, but that is to say that we have traits and abilities that were given to us by God.
This manifests itself in all manner of ways.
In addition to being made in His likeness, he gave us access and the opportunity to dominate over the world we live in.
This is not meant to be a negative thing, but it is a positive thing. Imagine a shovel, you have the ability to pick it up and use it for its intended purpose. You can dig a hole with the shovel because you are able to use it as a tool to accomplish a goal.
Let them Have Dominion.
It is simple, you can do what you will with what is around you. You can either take dominion or you can just let things be.
Dominion requires effort. Dominion requires focus. Dominion requires action.
This specific part stood out to me while reading the scripture today.
“dominion… over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.”
If something in the world around you “creeps” you have the ability to take dominion.
Bugs, spiders, rats,
Sprits, attitudes, moods,
You can take dominion over these things and rule them.
If you want to.
God gave you that ability from the very beginning.
So do it. Or don’t.
It’s something you have to do. Be warned. If you don’t, you will pay the consequences.
