Practicing Spiritual Warfare
The Right to Keep and Bare Arms
The weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty through God!
We are in warfare. The warfare of significance is in the battlefield of our mind. The evil assault is on your thoughts. However, our arsenal is mighty through God. We have been given the tools to dominate our enemy and establish a domain that is ruled by the power and principles of God and His Word.
In this portion of scripture, if we could embrace the implications and engage as instructed, we all would live a more productive and powerful life of faith.
2 Corinthians 10
4 (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)
5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;
6 And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled.
7 Do ye look on things after the outward appearance? if any man trust to himself that he is Christ’s, let him of himself think this again, that, as he is Christ’s, even so are we Christ’s.
The weapons used against us,
Imaginations
Information that purports to be in contradiction to scripture
Thoughts
The temptation to disobey God.
Focused on the physical, ignoring the spiritual
Self-awareness without appreciation that all believers are of equal value and importance to God. (Prideful attitude, opinion.)
We are well able to take dominion over the territory between our ears. We can not control what other people allow in their brains, but we have the ability to bring the power of God to bear in our minds.
When we do this, we are prepared to have the a godly influence and witness to others.
When we cede the battlefield of our mind to the enemy, we are captive.
Entertainment, books, audio, day dreaming can enslave us to moods, doubt, anger, attitudes, and dispositions that hinder and steal moments and opportunities to see the power of God demonstrated in us and through us.
When they ceeded the battleground of the mind, they lost control of the fight.
We can, with the power of God learn from their mistake and experience personal victory and dominion.
