Faith Alone?

There is only one scripture where the two words, faith and alone are found together.  Sadly the meaning is in direct contradiction to one of the favorite deceptions in Christianity.  There are so many so I can’t say favorite.

Do people not read their bibles?

James 2:17 Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.

Ok, you don’t like the book of James.  Let’s look at Hebrews,

Hebrews 11:7 By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house;

Obvious point.

The first time grace is found in the Bible is in this context.  Noah was saved by grace and through faith.

What did that faith look and sound like?

The man built a boat to God’s specifications.  If Noah would not have been motivated by faith he and his family would have drowned.

Listen to Paul in Romans

Romans 10:16 But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report?

Oh wait, I should post the whole context.

15 And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!

16 But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report?

17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

Obedience is inseparable from faith.

Faith obeys.   Doubt disobeys.

One can judge themselves if they believe.  How?

Are they obeying the Word of God?

One can believe the Word of God and later through the help of the voices of doubt begin to disbelieve the Word of God. How do you know if you are a believer?  Are you obeying the Word of God?

Eve was a believer right up to that point she begins to reason why another set of “facts” were worth reconsidering her simple faith.  That moment when she sinned against the Word of God, that is the birth of Sin in scripture.

The sad thing, many people who begin with simple faith in Jesus Christ and begin to live and obey accordingly give ear to subtle and smooth-talking theologians who talk them out of believing the Word of God in exchange for fables and tales from long-dead men and women whose words are given as a substitute to scripture.

Jesus did not teach faith alone.

Paul did not teach faith alone.

Peter did not teach faith alone.

All of them taught and preached faith.  Yes!!  However, they also further in innumerable instances preached and taught of things that must be done by a believer.

It is biblical malpractice to take isolated scriptures and ignore not just the context of the chapter, but lift it out of the complete context of the Bible.

Faith Alone as a doctrine is yet another Doctrinal Error of the Reformation.

Sadly many people don’t even know enough about scripture or to believe the scripture to see it for the error that it is.
